Ginger, cinnamon and cloves...
A touch of ginger, a pinch of cinnamon, a dash of clove and a heaping spoonful of love – these ingredients are the foundation to Anna’s Thins – the most beloved ginger cookie in the world.
Our master bakers use the finest, natural ingredients and continue to follow the original recipe. Our attention to detail and our focus on tradition are what make Anna’s Thins everyone’s favourite ginger cookie.
Like many Swedish housewives in the 1920's, Anna Karlsson baked ginger cookies at Christmas from a recipe handed down from her mother. Her cookies became so popular that Anna and her sister started baking them year-round. In 1929 they opened a small bakery in Stockholm, Sweden. Ever since, Anna’s has been a magical journey supplying cookies to Europe for nearly a century. In 2002, Anna’s Thins opened a second bakery in High River, Alberta, Canada, bringing this fine tradition to North America. Today Anna’s Thins worldwide is owned by Lotus Bakeries, known for it’s line of strong, authentic brands.
Scroll over the photos below to see how Anna’s Thins are made in our Canadian bakery. Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to bake 1,950,000 cookies each day – that’s 120 kilometers or 75 miles of cookies lined up edge to edge! It’s a lot of cookies, because we too have found that it’s hard to stop at just one.
